James Hammerschmidt, former Associate Ethan Don and Jessica Summers were featured presenters at a seminar entitled “Human Resource Law: What You Need to Know Now.” The event, hosted by the National Business Institute (NBI), provided attendees with information and insights on recent legislative changes and court decisions that may impact human resource practices at their workplace.
Jim, co-chair of the firm’s Employment Law practice group, led one discussion on policies and components of an effective employee handbook and another entitled “Discrimination and Harassment.” Ethan, a former member of Paley Rothman’s Employment Law and Litigation groups, presented three segments—“Hiring/Recruiting,” “Employee Discipline and Termination” and “Workplace Behavior & Privacy Issues.” Jessie, who also works in the Employment Law group, led a segment entitled “The Affordable Care Act and Other Developments in Employment Law.” The seminar was geared to attorneys, human resource directors and risk management personnel and was approved for Continuing Education credits.
