Bar Association of Montgomery County Names James Hammerschmidt Treasurer-Elect
BETHESDA, MD — Paley Rothman attorney James Hammerschmidt was recently voted by his peers as Treasurer-Elect of the Bar Association of Montgomery County (BAMC), a position he will hold until May of 2013, when he becomes Treasurer of the association.
Mr. Hammerschmidt was named to the position at the BAMC Annual Meeting/Law Day last month. He is a longtime supporter of the organization, having previously been a member of its Executive Committee and Judicial Selections Committee. He also is the former co-chair of the BAMC’s Employment Law section and its District Court Mediation program.
A member of Paley Rothman’s Employment Law, Litigation and Appellate groups, Mr. Hammerschmidt has held several leadership positions within the local legal community, including Chairman of the Board for the Federal Bar Association’s Maryland Chapter. He is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bars, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the District of Maryland and the District of Columbia.
